Music For Neurodivergent Brains

Music of all types has special effects on us when we listen to it. For my fellow neurodivergent people, I have put together a small list of my favorite 8D audio playlists. This is music for neurodivergent brains!

Of course, you do not have to be neurodivergent to enjoy the music in the videos below. Anybody can reap the benefits of 8D audio! If you want to learn a bit more about what 8D audio is, feel free to check out my definition article here.

Some Preliminary Thoughts

Before you listen, here are just a few thoughts to keep in mind. The most important thing to remember with 8D audio (especially if you have never listened to it before) is to make sure you have headphones on. 8D audio pans all around you, so speakers won’t capture the effect we’re looking for.

You’re also going to want to be in a place that is calming or relaxing for you. The songs in this list are all primarily for calming. Be sure to pick a spot to chill and get comfortable.

Finally, you really want to focus on the sound. You can close your eyes if you want to chill out. You can also use this to help you focus on work, as well. This is a great benefit of 8D audio for neurodivergent brains.

Having said that, sit back and enjoy!

1. Lonely Day

Lonely day is probably my favorite 8D audio playlist that I’ve found so far. It’s probably the most upbeat of the ones on this list. I often times use this to work my day job when things get monotonous.

It’s a great distractor from the outside world that helps keep me focused. This is primarily what I use 8D audio for since focus is probably my biggest ADHD symptom. Whether for focus or just wanting to enjoy the sound, lonely day is a great bit of music for neurodivergent brains!

2. Beats to Relax/Study To

Beats to relax/study to is also a really great 8D audio playlist on youtube that I’ve used for focus. This one is over 2x as long as lonely day, so it definitely helps out for those longer study sessions if you need the extra help focusing.

Plus the video really adds to the ambience! I don’t know about you, but sometimes when I’m listening to some music I enjoy the videos almost as much as the sound!

3. Midnight Vibes

Midnight vibes is probably the most somber playlist on this list. Like it suggests, the scene this playlist sets is a nighttime city with almost a melancholy and nostalgic feel.

This one really helps me slow down when things are feeling a bit overwhelming. Sometimes we just need to shut in for a minute as neurodivergent people with our music. Our mood can pretty easily recover using 8D audio if we aren’t feeling well. Give this one a try!

4. 1 Hour Chill Music

Something that folx who know me know that I am a sucker for a good nostalgic feel. This playlist of 1 hour chill music really scratches that itch for me. As a matter of fact, I’m listening to this one while I write this article!

If you’re after a nostalgic feel, give this playlist a try!

5. Just Chilling

Then there is simply a playlist for chilling. With an hour of 8D audio versions of lofi hip hop songs, this playlist is great for finding your favorite songs and, well, just chilling!

Conclusion

I’ve listed some of my favorite music for neurodivergent brains in this short list. Also, I’ve included some of the specific activities I use them for.

Whether it’s for focus or for fun, 8D audio can help anybody feel better in their current moment. I encourage you to create your own playlist of 8D audio for your own unique needs!

Setting this intention for you can not only allow you to feel better now, but it can get you on the right track of using sensory interventions like music to better understand yourself. After all, particularly for us neurodivergent folx, we want to be more in touch with our senses.

Starting to see how you respond to 8D audio can be a great way to start learning about your awesome brain!
