Applied behavior analysis (ABA) is a type of behavioral therapy that was developed to “treat” Autistic kiddos. It has been the standard of care for treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorder for years.
With the concept of Neurodiversity coming to the limelight recently, Autistic folx have began making their opinions heard on how they are treated by our mental health system. They have particularly spoken out against ABA therapy and the dangers it imposes on Autistic kiddos.

I figured I have been writing so much on neurodiversity lately, you all probably want to hear other neurodivergent voices touching on the topic. Well, look no further! I have some great videos on neurodiversity that I have found to be very helpful in the past.

Recently I have been doing a bit of research into music therapy for neurodivergent folx. Something that caught my attention was a type of music called panning music. Psychotherapy has changed drastically in the last 30 years, let alone its entire existence. We came from spiritual roots to behavioral interventions in the mid 20th century. From there, we began to move toward more integrative forms of therapy. This happened as learned more about our brains’ and bodies’ reactions to the world around us. Neurodivergent affirming therapy is the latest of these phenomena in the field of psychotherapy.
